Cheryl Scott, Senior Conference Administrator of the IEEE Photonics Society, passed away on  November 13, 2022. She was the daughter of Middlesex County Sheriff Mildred Scott and sister of County Commissioner Chanelle C. McCullumon. Surviving are her beloved parents, her loving children Aleysse and Richard,  her granddaughter Solay, her brothers and sisters, her nieces, nephews, and her aunts and uncles.

Cheryl loved sports and enjoyed Zumba, exercising, and kickboxing. She liked to travel and shop, considered herself a personal shopper and was a friend to many. Cheryl was strong, considerate, brave, generous, and a true friend. Most of all she loved being with her family and friends who were by her side in passing.

Cheryl was an IEEE employee for over 22 years. Photonics Society Executive Director, Doug Razzano, shared the following: “Cheryl was so well liked by many IEEE staff and volunteers.  She was an extremely positive and supportive person, and she fought her illness with bravery and an unparalleled optimism.  The IEEE Photonics Society staff will do our best to emulate Cheryl’s kindness, celebrate her life, and hold her in our memories.”

Long-time IEEE Photonics Society colleague and friend, Sylvia Hinkson shared that, “Cheryl was the friendliest and kindest person I’ve ever met. She was not just a coworker but a best friend. I will truly miss her”.

 

 

She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 19, at 1:30 p.m. EST at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Avenue, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
